We we walked along the South Bank in London with our friends on that particular Mothers Day we felt supported by each other. Both couples stricken by the grief of infertility. It was comforting to have someone who understood the roller coaster of emotions we were experiencing and why being in church on mothers day was particularly difficult.
There are a number of support forums around on the web, in the UK one of largest is Infertility Network UK. I know in Ireland Rollercoaster is very active and a number of woman from their have been successful in getting pregnant using The Fertile Mind.
I have just been made aware of a forum in the US for woman trying to conceive and experiencing motherhood for the first time after 40. FlowerPowerMom.com—The Truth About Motherhood After 40, features real mom stories, expert advice and the first online community to empower all women on the journey of motherhood after 40. Their ‘A Child After 40’ online community offers support and free “Ask Our Expert” educational forums on midlife motherhood—from fertility, ART, pregnancy, birth or adoption, to parenting after 40.
So wherever you are, I hope you can find people who understand and can listen, encourage and support you on your journey because I know friends and family with children, or choose to be childless, try to understand but often just don’t, do they?
